Theater Lab with John Hadden
A practical course for actors, directors and/or playwrights with any level of experience (including no experience)—and for people with curiosity about how theater works. This is an acting/directing class—and an incubator for productions that can blossom and take on a life (or start a company) of their own. Students will
Plays will be produced from time to time as we get going; interested class participants will be cast whenever possible. Every six months, a mini-festival will showcase work that emerges from the classes. John Hadden is a director, writer, builder, teacher and actor living on a small farm in VT. He is a founding member of Shakespeare & Co and ran the Theater Company at Hubbard Hall. He played Romeo, Hamlet, Iago, Richard II, Leontes, MacBeth, Lear, Merchant, Bastard, Fool, Scrooge, and Salieri in regional theaters, as well as roles on film, radio and TV, and directed about fifty productions here and abroad. A solo show based on John’s book Conversations with a Masked Man (Arcade, 2016) began its regional tour at Main Street Arts. Vermont Teaching Artist, BFA SUNY Purchase, Writing MFA Goddard College.
