Position Overview Main Street Arts is a vibrant community arts center dedicated to fostering creativity, self‑expression, and artistic exploration for people of all ages. Our summer programs bring together young artists, experienced instructors, and emerging educators to create an inspiring, hands‑on learning environment.
We are seeking enthusiastic, creative, and responsible interns to join our team as Summer Arts Instructor Interns. This role is ideal for high school or college students, emerging teaching artists, or anyone passionate about arts education and community engagement.

$200 intern stipend for each week of a ½ day camp
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Classroom Support
Assist lead instructors in planning and facilitating daily art lessons and creative activities.
Work directly with students to guide them through projects, encourage experimentation, and support skill development.
Demonstrate techniques, help prepare materials, and offer constructive feedback to young artists.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Program Preparation & Logistics
Help set up classrooms, studios, and outdoor spaces before each session.
Organize and distribute art supplies, maintain clean and safe workspaces, and assist with end‑of‑day cleanup.
Student Engagement & Supervision
Supervise students during class time, transitions, breaks, and outdoor activities.
Help maintain a safe, supportive atmosphere.
Build rapport with students and encourage creativity, collaboration, and confidence.
Creative Contribution
Bring fresh ideas for projects, games, or activities that enhance the program.
Collaborate with staff to adapt lessons for different age groups or skill levels.
Participate in brainstorming sessions for program improvement and curriculum development.
Professional Development
Receive mentorship from experienced teaching artists and program directors.
Reflect on teaching practices and participate in feedback sessions.
Gain experience in arts education, youth development, and community arts programming.
Qualifications
Passion for the arts and enthusiasm for working with children and teens.
Background in visual arts, performing arts, arts education, or related fields (coursework or experience).
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
Reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Prior experience with youth programs is helpful but not required.
