NIA Dance
Nia is a holistic movement practice that combines elements of dance, martial arts, and relaxation techniques, focusing on joy in movement and overall well-being. It aims to integrate body, mind, and spirit, making it accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. It is generally practiced barefoot and incorporates movements from Jazz and Modern Dance, Duncan Dance, Aikido, TaekWonDo, Tai Chi, The Feldenkrais Method, the Alexander Technique, and Yoga. Launched in California in 1983, NIA originally stood for Non-Impact Aerobics, and it now stands for Neuro-Muscular Integrated Action.
