Drawing with Words with Catherine Despont
What do we observe when we write? If you have ever done life-drawing you have experienced the need for a different kind of “looking,” and (maybe also) the difficulty of doing so. This course will explore the hidden relationships to observation that create challenges for the written word. We will approach writing as a multidimensional tool aimed at providing insights about the mind and our relationship to self/ the world. We will do lots of writing, but observation exercises will include drawing, walking, deep listening, movement, and close collaboration with others. Readings will be drawn from fiction, neuroscience, art, performance, and various esoteric traditions. A conversation for all levels of writing experience—a chance to share and discuss relationships to perception and craft. 5 Sessions Wednesdays 6:00 - 8: 30 pm Nov 2 - Dec 1 $200 |
