Collage is an incredible art form. Working definition of collage: A technique to compose a work of art by pasting on a single surface, various materials not normally associated with one another, such as newspaper clippings, parts of photographs, theatre tickets, images from magazines and/or periodicals, and anything else you can think of.]
This class is experiential and interactive by design.
We are all human: we birth, make, feel, travel, forgive, love, offer service, and generally strive to thrive. In addition, because we are simultaneously mortal and conscious, our lives include change and loss.
During our time together, we will explore and collage, using a variety of materials and modalities, what we carry and how we go on, given the realities of whatever our story may be.
You need no previous art-making experience to cut and to glue, to make marks and write words, to rip and attach; nor to recognize the precious human complexity revealed in the mixing of images, materials, and text.
We will attempt to use the process of making collage as a catalyst for conversation. Sometimes when our hands are occupied and our eyes are busy, the conduit between our heart and our voice opens.

Andrea Bredbeck (BA Counseling Psychology, MFA) has been a practicing mixed-genre artist, writer, educator, and clinical trauma specialist for over three decades.
