African Drumming

Mondays, September 14-October 19

3:45-4:45 PM: Ages 8-13 year
5-6 PM: Ages 14+

Paulin Lukombo Sinu
Founder of Root Sounds Productions, specializing in the rhythmic traditions of the Congo Basin and their integration into contemporary music. Master percussionist and composer bridging ancestral and modern musical expressions.

Rooted in ancestral tradition—and also deeply relevant to modern music—the course uses drumming and instruments to introduce participants to the polyrhythms and groove concepts that underpin jazz, funk, gospel, and contemporary popular music. More than a music lesson, it is an opportunity to build skills, connect with others, and experience first-hand how cultural exchange enriches a community.

The classes will run weekly for six weeks from 3:45-4:45 PM (children) and from 5:00 to 6:30 PM (Teens & Adults). Drop-ins are welcome.

Our goal is to: inspire people of all ages, build confidence and musical skill, create opportunities for cultural exchange, and pass on the richness of musical traditions.
